Research University Model
Universities are broadly grouped into four models by function: Teaching Universities (classroom instruction first), Teaching-Research Universities (balancing quality teaching and research), Research Universities (turning research into innovation and industrial application), and Enterprise Universities (building startups on top of innovation).
UMAS follows the research-university model, defined by six hallmarks: (1) creating and disseminating new knowledge, (2) an emphasis on graduate-level study, (3) national-scale research institutes, laboratories and infrastructure, (4) problem-based and project-based learning, (5) internationally recognized scholars and researchers, and (6) domestic and international R&D funding sources.
